The purpose of Y-Maidens is to foster the companionship of the mother and daughter.  By participating in group activities together, the bond between the mother and her daughter grows stronger.  The relationship becomes stronger at each new event -- as mothers and daughters work side by side to complete a rope-swing obstacle course, the daughter learns to trust her mother, trust her friends and trust her own abilities.  She gains a new sense of confidence and stores away a new set of loving memories of the wonderful times she is sharing with her mother.

Here are some quotes from Y-Maidens mothers:

"I cannot tell you how moved I was when I heard my daughter telling her friends about all of the fun things she does with her mother.  I never had those kind of memories with my own mom, and I treasure every chance I have to build this relationship!"

"My daughter had only been in Y-Maidens for a year when it came time for her birthday party, but the first four names she wrote down on her party list were girls from her tribe.  I was amazed at how strong those friendships were to her!"

"This is one of the only times I get to do things with just my daughter, and she brags about getting time alone with me to her brother!"

"Y-Maidens gives me a chance to see how my daughter acts with other little girls, and also to see how every child has different strengths and weaknesses.  It's been a great learning relationship for me and the friendships I have with the other moms in my tribe are priceless!"
