Wahoka,

The Cheyenne tribe started off March with a Tribal meeting at Kevin and Baylee's house. They came up with a new and useful craft - making our own scarfs. The fleece material was already cut so the girls jumped in and worked on the ends. They carefully cut the ends into 1/2 inch strips and tied knots to decorate it. Of course the Dads needed a matching scarf. This was a great craft because I know in 10 years when I unexpectedly stumble upon the scarf it will be an reminder of those Indian Princess days.

Bob and Francessca hosted our outing this month at Climbx - indoor rock climbing. After some instructions we put on our climbing harness and the Dads belayed as the girls climbed. Each time the girls became braver. Most made it to the top and rang the bell. As the girls gain confidence they progressed to the harder walls. We discovered Isabelle and her younger sister Megan are the natural born climbers of the Cheyenne Tribe.

We finished off the month with a fun time at the Square Dance.

Wahoka,

The Cheyenne tribe started out February still recovering from a great Winter Camp. Todd, along with princesses Jordyn and Riley, provided the craft for our meeting. They came up with what we thought would be a very messy craft. Out of the mysterious bag, Todd gave each Princess a block of clay. Tables were lined with paper and the girls dove into their clay blocks. Everything from snakes to coffee cups were formed. Hearts for Valentines Day were a popular and a lot of memorable "I Love You" hearts were created. It was amazing to see the talent by both Princesses and Dads.

Our Febuary outing took us to the familiar and always interesting Prehistoric Pets. A show was put on for our tribe, complete with snakes, spiders and monitors. We were able to hold some of the creatures and it was fun to see the scared reaction - and that was from the Dads. A small bribe was needed for some girls to hold the creatures - its amazing what you can get with an ice cream cone. There were large monitors and small tarantulas. Gigi wanted a new pet with every animal she saw. It's a great outing that everyone enjoys.

February 2006

Wahoka,

January got off to a great start for the Cheyenne tribe. Everyone had holiday stories to tell and the anticipation and excitement of the upcoming winter camp was on our mind. Our first meeting of the new year was hosted by Gordon and Isabella. After the talking stick had made its round and the Princesses had told their stories, we got into the craft. Dads and Princesses joined in the craft and enjoyed painting and decorating the chimes so much that the only way to get them to stop was to break out the snacks. It was a great craft for all and a perfect start to the new year.

The long anticipated winter camp had finally arrived and the energy level was high. When we arrived at Cedar Lake Camp everyone was glad to see the accommodations and set out to explore the camp before dark. We had to check out all the buildings, the play area and of course the mess hall. For dinner we headed into town to a local eatery and enjoyed the food and a few good tribal game of pool - nice shooting Brandon! We finished off the evening watch "Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory" in Scanland Hall.

The next morning the Princesses competed in the games. From the youngest to the oldest the girls were so determined running through the obstacle course and so concentrated on the snowball throwing. Everyone had fun and the tribe came home with a couple of awards. We still had time before lunch and the lack of recent snow did not slow our tribe. We found a snowy hill and a couple of sleds and spent the next couple hours going up and down the hill. Each time the girls got a little braver and were soon looking for jumps and bumps to go over. I think this was a highlight for the girls. After lunch was a 2 hour Cheyenne hike. The Princesses really enjoyed the outdoors and especially following the bear tracks. Fortunately no bear was found. The younger ones tired out a bit but no one wanted to stop.

After dinner the tribe headed over to the campfire. The girls had spent the time before dinner perfecting their skit which was the Cheyenne version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", an original version written and directed by Shelby, and were ready for their turn. They performance was great and received lots of applause. At achievement time the Cheyenne Tribe was proud to claim that every Princess and Dad attending winter camp had put in the effort to accomplished enough goals to receive an Achievement award and moved up one level.

The next morning was time to pack up and go, some earlier than others. It all seemed to go by so fast but we were left with a weekend filled with fun and memories!

Wahoka,

After a Holiday Party to remember, the Cheyenne tribe embarked on our annual Christmas Walk of Lights through the highly decorated Fountain Valley neighborhood near Mile Square Park. This always seems to a favorite event as every Princess has their own special house and this year was no exception. Whether it was writing a letter to Santa, watching the ski lift and snowball fight or being fascinated by the "magic tree" with its thousands of lights, this is a great way to get in the holiday spirit. The walk was top off with cookies and hot chocolate provided by Tim and Amy. It was a fun time and I hope my letter reaches Santa in time.

November 2005

Wahoka,

Travis put on a fun and informative outing at Giant Skateboard. We started the evening with pizza, drinks and too much extra Halloween candy. The first stop on the tour was the business side of the company. Travis explained the daily ins and outs of running a company, from sales and marketing all the way to manufacturing. He explained the ordering and stocking and of products, what the sales force does, how they are involved in trade shows and how they develop and market new and existing products. We toured the office areas and the warehouse - seeing the extensive inventory ranging from skateboards to clothing.

From there we moved on to the demonstrations. Several top skateboarders performed tricks by jumping over stairs and getting air off the ramps. Then we moved over to the half pipe - don't try this at home! Travis and the others demonstrated how to use the half pipe to do tricks and get air - they knew what they were doing. The girls and the Dads were enjoying the show.

One by one each princess got a lesson on the lower portion of the half pipe as the dads held them up. It wasn't long until the girls discovered what a nice slide the half pipe made and how they could go down 3,4 even 5 at a time. There was no stopping them now. Back and forth, running up the pipe and sliding down. They seemed to have unlimited energy and excitement. Everyone had a good time and I'm sure the princess's slept well that night.

Our craft meeting had a timely Thanksgiving theme. Randy did a great job coming up with a new tribal craft, transforming an apple into a turkey. The girls cut out the turkey's face and wings and colored in the details. Toothpicks were used for the legs and feathers were added for the finishing touch. The girls had fun and the warm brownies for the snack was a big hit.

October 2005

Wahoka,

Our first Tribal outing of the year was a huge success. How can you top Boomer's $10 Tuesday for fun and entertainment. The evening started with pizza and ah, drinks, as the girls played and stories of Catalina were swapped. That alone would have been a fun evening as everyone was having such a good time but we were determined to get in 18 holes of golf. The girls played tough, limiting the mulligans and challenging the Dads. Fortunately nobody kept score so everyone came out a winner. It was then off to the Ferris wheel and the other rides. Some dads and daughters hit the go carts and were never to been seen again till closing time. We ended the evening playing video games and too much Dance-Dance-Revolution.

Next for the tribe, and Nation, was the Induction picnic. Our last minute ping-pong toss was a big hit with the girls - or maybe it was the candy we were giving away, either way everyone had fun. Girls from other tribes were having fun helping to pick up the ping-pong balls - just try to get them to clean their room. Tossing that ping-pong ball into those fish bowls was a lot harder then it seemed but everyone got a prize. Although we don't have any new inductees so far this year, the event was a lot of fun with a great turnout of Cheyenne Wife's and Siblings. The girls had lots of fun playing all the games, doing the crafts and getting their hair painted.

The craft at our monthly meeting was a Halloween theme - good timing. The kids made door hangers, visors and trick and treat bags all decorated with spiders, bats, and colorful stick-on letters. Steve and Maddie did a great job on the craft and snacks.

September 2005

Wahoka,

We started the new year with the passing of the Headdress from Chief Ronnie Brim to our new Chief, Paul Defeo. Families, siblings and friends showed up at the beach bash on September 6th. A bonfire, hot dogs and marsh mellows along with a perfect sunset made it a great start to the new year. Many Tribal thanks to Ronnie and his Princess daughters, Hannah and Ollie, for a great year!

Although a major Trade Show and soccer conflicts impacted our presents at Catalina, those attending had a great time. Kayaking, snorkeling and exploring were big hits with the Princesses. A big who-ya to the Mohicans, the Y and Two Harbors for a great time!

January 2005

Wahoka Great Hunting Valley Nation!!!!

Our entire tribe was ecstatic at the turn-out for the Christmas Party and were very honored to host the event.  It was alot of work but your smiles (especially the Princess's) were worth it.  Such creativity in the Chief Decorating event!!

In a addition to the Christmas Party the Cheyenne celebrated the holidays together with a tour of a view elaborately decorated neighborhoods followed by some hot cocoa and cookies. In addition to the sights and treats the girls really enjoyed the handful of neighborhood Christmas "bands" that set up outside their homes to add a little music to the event.

We're all ready for Winter Camp and will be greeting you all with our traditional Cheyenne spirit.
