Chief Howling Wolf and his Princesses
February 2009 Wahoka GHV, It was the largest GHV Winter Camp ever at 208! Last
year was 192. It was the first
campout for the new Cheyenne tribe! 5-6 Cheyenne won nation game awards.
I’m sure they had a great time. The event
produced a $265. Would have been more but we invested more into Friday
night’s dinner, supplies, patches, etc. 18 Princesses
recited their AIMs to me and were awarded the Blue feather. A number of
those recited their AIMs to their own chief as well. The Shawnee were
awarded the Spirit Award for their efforts in putting together the Holiday Party
and the $735 donation to the Natalie Buchoz Recovery
Fund. The Nation Games
were completed in one hour! The obstacle course was probably the most
challenging and well laid out I’ve ever seen. Several tribal Chiefs, and
dads ran the course as well. The Sioux won the
Scavenger Hunt in a record 45 minutes. Sorry Barry – You’re no match for
the Sioux! The Great Spirit
stopped the rain by Sat morning giving us a clear day for all of our activities.
Many went tubing and found snow for sledding. I’m proud to be
the chief of this GREAT nation…Let’s keep up the GREAT work! Noonway, Mike D January 2009 Wahoka
I am honored and proud to be chief of such a GREAT NATION.
Heap thanks to the Shawnee and the GHV Longhouse council for hosting our annual
GHV Family Holiday Party. It was a
huge success. The theme this year
was “giving back to the community” and we did just that.
Our princesses learned the gift of giving. We donated $735 to the
Natalie Buchoz Recovery Fund. She
was happy to attend; we were honored to have her. For those that we there
(approx. 125) – Heap thanks! For those that were not, please pass on
the feedback – it was a blast! A brand new princess at her first event won
the Wii – How cool is that! More importantly, have them understand the
emotional and moral value of the great deeds we performed… Let’s continue this momentum as we roll into the new year.
Participation is the key.
Bring a friend, bring a princess, host an event, sign-up for camp, become a
tribal leader. Did you know you can
register at any time during the year?
Did you know that the YMCA has a scholarship program?
My goals for the rest of the year are to continue to invest in the tribes
and infrastructure of this great and powerful nation.
We will host top-notch events that weave a little message into a lot of
fun…Times are tough, families are suffering.
Let’s do what we can to help.
This program has a lot to offer for a very small investment.
Invest what you can – time, money, wisdom.
Happy New Year Great Hunting Valley!
May the Great Spirit shine upon you.
